bandana story: blaze a trail

bandana story: blaze a trail

i met a young woman, maybe 19 or 20 years old, at a craft fair who didn't know what this expression meant. I felt for her like I felt for my own children when I realized they didn't know who Dolly Parton was. it was like, how did you live for 6 years on this earth without knowing Dolly?! I fixed that for them immediately as I did for this woman, probably going on way too long about this beloved expression.blazing a trail means literally making a path where one has never been before. it means seeing a different way to get where you're going, then taking a big machete and cutting through the obstacles to make your own trail.in terms that apply to those of us not hiking in the rainforest or heavily wooded areas on a daily basis, it means letting yourself see a path that may not have been tested. it means listening to your own voice louder than anyone else's as you decide how to best reach your goals and build your life. Kacey Musgraves sings, "you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. so might as well just do whatever you want." and I think she's right. the jenni earle recipe for ultimate life bliss is this: define your joy, set your goals
then blaze a trail to get there!
