Story of For Goodness Sake
This wonderful southern saying is one that comes out of both my and my mother’s mouths on a daily basis. It is a saying that evokes either surprise or annoyance when I say it in my normal life, but recently, as I hear it, it turns around in my mind and becomes a message that carries more weight and importance than I formerly thought.
What if it meant “for the sake of goodness”
What if it meant intentionally doing things that would leave more kindness, empathy and joy into the world - more goodness.
What if we moved through our days tuned into actions that are just for the sake of goodness.
*Helping someone feel seen and accepted at work or school
*Staying aware as we walk the aisles of the grocery store, stretching or bending to help someone gather what they need from the top or bottom shelf
*Really looking people and giving out compliments with reckless abandon
Goodness is all about awareness and willingness.
Maybe these small kindnesses can help each day feel more connective and good.
Cheers to the sake of goodness.
